Residenz

The Residenz is a stately mansion in Salzburg Austria.  It was constructed beginning in 1588 and was home to the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg.

The Residenz is located on Residenzplatz in the Altstadt district.  It is kitty-corner to the Salzburg Cathedral (Salzburger Dom).

The building is sometimes referred to as the "Alta Residenz" (Old Residenz) to clearly distinguish it from the New Residenz, which is located on the opposite side of the Residenzplatz.
