Salzburg Museum

The Salzburg Museum traces the cultural and artistic history of the Austrian city.  It was previously called the Museum Carolino-Augusteum.

The museum was founded in 1834 when it housed a collection of military artifacts.  It became the official town museum for Salzburg in 1848.

The Salzburg Museum is located in the New Residenz (palace) on Residenzplatz (square) in the Old Town.
